RSI-Shield Features

   
Fully programmable / expandable; RSI-Shield can be expended to ones own views. With the help of a very powerful macro programming language, one can obtain all information from RSI-Shield, and one can change all RSI-Shields settings in detail. Furthermore, RSI-Shield knows 17 so called 'Customizable Events', which can be used to execute a file (also a macro-script) when a special event occurs (such as the beginning or ending of a break). This way, one can expand the functionality of RSI-Shield as one pleases.
   
Control the mouse via the keyboard; Lots of people have more pain using the mouse than the keyboard. Using RSI-Shield one can simulate all functions of the mouse via the numeric part of the keyboard. One can control the mouse buttons, and one can move the mouse cursor fast and slow in any direction (even diagonal).
   
Roaming profiles; RSI-Shield supports so called roaming profiles. This means that one can put the profile of a user in a central place (in a network), to enable the user to use a random PC within the network without having to copy his/her settings to that PC every time.
   
MSN Messenger support; If desired, RSI-Shield can automatically change the status of MSN Messenger from 'Online' to 'Be right back' when a break begins, and vice versa after the break.
   
Windows fast-user-switching support; RSI-Shield is fully compatible with Windows feature 'fast-user-switching'.
   
Windows Terminal Server support; RSI-Shield is fully compatible with Windows Terminal Server
   
Dutch ARBO law; RSI-Shield implements the Dutch ARBO law for PC, and notebook users. According to this law an employee has to take a break or do something else, after a maximum of two hours. Furthermore, one may work no more than six hours a day with the PC. RSI-Shield warns when one does not comply to this norm. This feature can be disabled (even before installation).
   
3 kinds of breaks; RSI-Shield has three customizable breaks (micro, medium and macro).
   
Intelligence; RSI-Shield takes into account, whether or not you are actually working (adjustable). On top of that, RSI-Shield takes into account, whether or not you take natural breaks. For example: you will not get a break right after you get back from your lunch-break (adjustable).
   
Enforce Breaks; Breaks can be forced. Keyboard and mouse can be disabled during a break (adjustable).
   
Postpone Breaks; Breaks can be postponed when you get a break at a bad time. This option is only intended for emergencies; RSI-Shield makes up for postponed breaks (adjustable).
   
Powerful macro technology; Let RSI-Shield enter text for you automatically, control applications or the Internet etc. Novice users can simply record their actions and play them back at a later time. Advanced users can create powerful macros using the Macro Editor.

20 clear 3D exercises (animated); During a break animated exercises can be shown. These, on Cesar- and Mensendieck-therapy based, exercises consist of 3D animations with clear comments.
   
Radical Mode for undisciplined users; Let RSI-Shield protect you against yourself. When you turn this mode on, RSI-Shield is unstoppable (even 'unkillable'), breaks can not be postponed etc.
   
Extensive statistics; RSI-Shield keeps up extensive statistics, which can be presented both numerical and graphical. The user can (among other things) look at the statistics of mouse-usage, keyboard-usage, enforced breaks, natural breaks and effective working-time over a certain time-frame. With these statistics, a user can, for instance, determine whether his/her mouse-usage has increased or decreased. The statistics can be protected by a password.
   
Report program; With this program one can compare statistics of multiple users. It can export the statistics from the user profiles to a text file. Furthermore, is the program able to fully automatically import the data into Microsoft Excel and it automatically creates a graph of the data.
   
Non intrusive counter; The counter (which shows you when the next break will be) is very inconspicuous and is never in the way. It is located near the clock (bottom right) in the taskbar.
   

Company options (via network);

  • Pre-installation settings; Determine before the installation with which settings RSI-Shield should be installed. RSI-Shield will be installed on all client-pc's using these settings.
  • Centralized installation; It is possible to execute the installation, invisible for the user, via a logon-script.
  • Centralized management; Manage the settings centrally for all or a selected group of RSI-Shield users.
  • Disable options; Determine which screens and options are available for users.
  • Centralized registration; Register all RSI-Shield users centrally via network.
   
Break announcement; The beginning and ending of a break are being announced visually (by showing a movie-clip) as well as by sound.
   
User friendly; For novice users it is possible to setup RSI-Shield with a wizard. Advanced users can customize almost every aspect of RSI-Shield.
   
Key-hit feedback; To prevent or reduce RSI, it is important to get feedback when the user presses a key. RSI-Shield makes it possible to attach a sound to a key-hit.
   
Multi user; RSI-Shield is suitable for multiple users. Each user can save his or her settings separately.
   
Multilingual; RSI-Shield is multilingual and currently comes with two languages: Dutch (Nederlands) and English. You can easily switch between the available languages.
   
Pictures with instructions for currect posture; To prevent or reduce RSI, the correct working posture is essential. Pictures and instructions are included in RSI-Shield.
   
Instruction movie-clips; RSI-Shield contains clear instruction-animations.
   
Extended help-function; RSI-Shield contains an extended help-function. Whenever a user selects or hovers above an element, for example a button, the appropriate help-info will be displayed. On top of that, you can find a very extensive online-help on the RSI-Shield site.
